Each Dakota STEAM Learning kit includes every material your K-5 students need to complete a hands-on STEAM challenge – science, engineering, art, and mathematics projects built around real open-ended problems with no single right answer. Students design, build, test, and try again. That process is the learning.

Our kits are created by Deanna and Jamie, two former South Dakota public school teachers. The same hands-on challenge philosophy behind our in-person school programs is built into every kit we make.

What grade levels are your STEAM kits designed for?

Our kits are designed for K-5 elementary students. Activities and challenge complexity vary by kit, and each listing indicates the recommended grade level so you can find the right fit for your classroom or family.

What is included in each kit?

Each kit includes all the physical materials your students need to complete the STEAM challenge. You do not need to source any supplies separately. Each kit includes a student challenge brief, including a follow along video.

How are our kits different from other STEM kits?

Most STEM kits give students step-by-step instructions and a guaranteed outcome. Our kits present an open-ended engineering or art challenge with no single right answer. Students design their own solution, test it, see what happens, and decide what to try next. That iterative process builds real problem-solving skills. Our kits were created by practicing K-5 teachers, not a product team.

Do your kits align with curriculum standards?

Yes. Our STEAM kits are designed with Next Generation Science Standards and cross-curricular K-5 learning objectives in mind.

Can schools or districts order kits in bulk?

Yes. If you are a principal, curriculum director, or cooperative coordinator looking to order kits for multiple classrooms or a whole school, contact us and we will discuss options for your school or district.

Where do you ship?

Kits are currently available for pickup in the Rapid City area. If you are located outside of this region, please contact us about availability. We are working to expand our kits beyond our area in the near future.
