STEAM Education Opportunities Across South Dakota
Dakota STEAM Learning brings in-person STEAM education to K-5 elementary schools across South Dakota - including the rural and small-town communities that most STEAM providers never reach. We are not a website or a digital program. We pack up our materials, get in the car, and travel directly to your school, your classroom, and your students.
Whether your school is in Rapid City or Murdo, Fort Pierre or Kadoka, if you serve South Dakota K-5 students, we want to be there.
Why We Focus on Rural South Dakota
Large STEAM programs and national enrichment providers are built for urban markets. They need school density, easy travel logistics, and large student populations to make their model work. Rural South Dakota does not fit that model, and as a result, rural South Dakota schools are consistently left out of the STEAM enrichment conversation.
Dakota STEAM Learning was built specifically for the schools that get left behind. Deanna and Jamie are former South Dakota public school educators. They know what a school in Murdo looks like, what a principal in Philip is trying to accomplish with limited planning time, and what a parent in Martin hopes their child gets out of an elementary school experience.
We built a program that travels, because that is the only way to bring quality STEAM education to every community in this state, not just the ones that are easy to reach.

What South Dakota Schools Are Saying
Philip Elementary had an amazing experience partnering with Dakota STEAM! The hands-on activities were engaging, well-organized, and perfectly designed for our elementary students. Our classrooms were filled with excitement, curiosity, and collaboration as students explored real-world problem solving through STEAM.
The Dakota STEAM team made the entire process seamless — from planning to presentation — and their passion for student learning truly shines. Opportunities like this are invaluable for our rural school, and our students are still talking about the experience!
We are so grateful for this partnership and can’t wait to work with Dakota STEAM again.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far will Dakota STEAM Learning travel for a school program?
We travel across South Dakota; including to communities that most enrichment providers consider too remote. We have delivered programs in Murdo, Kadoka, Philip, Martin, Fort Pierre, and Rapid City, and we are always looking to reach more communities. If your school is in South Dakota and serves K-5 students, contact us and we will confirm whether we can schedule a visit.
Our school is in a very small town. Are we too small for a program like this?
No, and honestly, small and rural South Dakota schools are exactly who we designed this program for. Large national STEAM providers need high-density urban markets to make their economics work. We are built around serving the communities they skip. The smaller and more rural your school, the more we believe you deserve access to quality STEAM enrichment.
Do you serve school districts or individual schools?
Both. We can partner with an individual school to deliver programs on a scheduled basis, or we can work with a cooperative or district to reach multiple schools across a service area. Contact us to discuss what the right arrangement looks like for your community.
Can Dakota STEAM Learning serve communities beyond the ones listed here?
Yes. The communities listed on this page represent where we have delivered programs; not the limit of where we will go. South Dakota is a big state and we are committed to expanding our reach. If your community is not on the list, reach out. We will tell you honestly whether we can make it happen.
Do you partner with cooperatives and non-public schools?
Yes. We have partnered with public schools, cooperatives, private schools, and local businesses. If you are an educational organization serving K-5 students in South Dakota, we want to talk about how we can work together.
What is the best way to find out if STEAM programs are available in my South Dakota community?
The fastest way is to contact us directly through our contact page. We can confirm availability for your area, share scheduling options, and provide a quote within one business day. You can also browse the community list above, if your town is listed, we have already been there and are ready to come back.
